  • KLC Advises Taiped on EUR 91 Million Sale of Property in Nea Iraklitsa Kavala

    The KLC Law Firm has advised Taiped on its sale of a property in Nea Iraklitsa Kavala to Iraklitsa A.E. for EUR 91 million.

    According to KLC, “the property consists of two adjacent seaside plots, with a total area of 149,733 acres, where the new owner intends to develop a tourist complex.”

  • Bernitsas Law Advises Piraeus Bank on EUR 350 Million Bond Issuance

    Bernitsas Law, working with Allen & Overy, has advised Piraeus Bank on its EUR 350 million issuance of senior preferred bonds and on their listing on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange’s Euro MTF market.

    “The issuance is part of Piraeus Bank’s strategy to increase its minimum requirements for own funds and eligible liabilities, which is a supervisory requirement for all banks,” Bernitsas Law informed.

    Bernitsas Law previously advised Piraeus Bank on the EUR 500 million issuance of green senior preferred bonds and their listing on the Euro MTF market (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on November 16, 2021).

  • Zepos & Yannopoulos Advises Intrum on Piraeus Bank’s EUR 500 Million NPL Securitization

    Zepos & Yannopoulos, working with White & Case, has advised Intrum and Intrum Hellas on the securitization transaction involving Piraeus Bank’s Sunrise III non-performing loan portfolio with a total gross book value of EUR 500 million.

    “Intrum has agreed to purchase 44% of the mez and junior notes, subject to customary conditions precedent,” Zepos & Yannopoulos informed.

    “The Sunrise III transaction is the third transaction under the wider Sunrise transformation program that Piraeus Bank announced in March 2021,” according to White & Case. “Intrum and Piraeus Bank have already closed six other Hellenic Asset Protection Scheme securitizations as part of their successful strategic partnership, now totaling over EUR 17 billion gross book value.”

    In 2021, Zepos & Yannopoulos also advised Intrum on Piraeus Bank’s project Sunrise I (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 8, 2021).

  • Closing: Hoist Finance’s Acquisition of NPL Portfolio from Alpha Bank Now Closed

    On November 18, 2022, Zepos & Yannopoulos announced that Hoist Finance’s acquisition of a portfolio of unsecured non-performing loans with a total outstanding balance of approximately EUR 400 million from Alpha Bank (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 28, 2022) has closed.

    As previously reported, Bernitsas Law has advised Hoist Finance on the acquisition. Zepos & Yannopoulos advised Alpha Bank on the transaction.

    Alpha Bank is one of Greece’s systemic banks. Hoist Finance is a Swedish financial institution operating in 11 European countries with more than 1,600 employees.

    Zepos & Yannopoulos has advised V-Group’s energy branch, Green, on the execution of a non-vertical long-term power purchase agreement with Heron Energy for the sale of energy generated from a 9-megawatt solar plant over a 12-year term.

    V-Group operates in waste management, renewable energy sources, and financial investments.

    Heron Energy is an energy supplier belonging to the Gek Terna group, a Greek conglomerate.
