  • PETOSEVIC Adds Lawyer in Budapest

    Zita Harsanyi has joined PETOSEVIC Hungary to direct the firm’s Intellectual Property matters and direct the firm’s Budapest office.

    Harsanyi has substantial experience in trademark, patent, and industrial design prosecution and is a member of the Hungarian Trademark Association and the Budapest Chamber of Attorneys at Law.

  • Gide Promotes Partner in Poland

    French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel today promoted Pawel Grzeskowiak, who heads the firm’s Warsaw Banking & Finance department, to equity partner, effective January 1, 2014. 

    Grzeskowiak specializes in banking and finance projects (secured and structured lending operations) and private equity and M&A transactions, and has extensive experience in stock exchange law, securities, securitization, and infrastructure investment projects.  

    Commenting on the appointment, Gide Senior Partner Baudouin de Moucheron said that the promotion demonstrated that “In an increasingly global and complex environment, we are now more than ever committed to our clients and to supporting them in their projects both in France and abroad.”

  • Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii announces 3 new partners in promotions round

    Romanian independent law firm Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii announced three new partners in recent promotions round that also included 10 appointments to the role of Managing Associate.

    The three new partners at the firm are Cristian Radu (Corporate/Commercial/M&A), Vlad Cercel (IT/TMT and PPP/Concessions), and Dragos Apostol (Privatization and M&A). The promotions will be effective as of January 1, 2014.

    According to Florentin Tuca, Managing Partner of the firm, the round of promotions “reflects the group’s outstanding legal expertise, deep engagement with the firm’s clients and their ability to grow our business in what has been a difficult and uneven year. We remain committed to further strengthening our ranks at all levels of seniority, including at partner level”.

     

  • Raidla Lejins & Norcous Named Baltic Legal Advisor of 2013 in Financial Times/Mergermarket Awards

    Raidla Lejins & Norcous was named Baltic Legal Advisor of 2013 in December’s Financial Times & Mergermarket European Awards in London.

    In 2013, the firm advised on more than 100 transactions in the Baltic countries, with an aggregate value of more than EUR 1 billion. The firm claims that its deal volume placed it in 5th place of all CEE firms for 2013.

    Partner Sven Papp, the head of RLN’s M&A and Corporate practices, described the award as “the most prestigious award for transactional lawyers”, and went on to add that “this is also the highest recognition of the trust of our clients, who provide us the opportunity to prove our experience and professionalism on bet-the-company deals.”

  • New partner in Vienna for CHSH

    The Vienna office of CHSH Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati announced it will be extending its partnership as of January 1, 2014 with the addition of Mark Krenn.

    Krenn graduated from the University of Vienna in 2003 and has been working with CHSH since 2004. He specializes in M&A, TMT, and outsourcing.

  • White & Case Promotes 6 CEE Lawyers to Counsel or Local Partner

    International law firm White & Case announced that its 31 promotions to local partnership and counsel positions worldwide included 6 lawyers in CEE.

    Dmitry Lapshin (Moscow) and Anthony O’Connor (Budapest/Istanbul) were promoted to Local Partner, while Nikolay Feoktistov (Moscow), Jakub Gubanski (Warsaw),  Simona Petrisor (Bucharest), and Pavel Cizek (Prague), were  promoted to Counsel. All promotions will be active as of January 1, 2014.

  • BLP Introduces New Real Estate Team in Moscow

    Goltsblat BLP – the Moscow office of international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner – announced the addition of a Real Estate team from competitor Akin Gump.

    The new group – led by Vladislav Sourkov, current Head of Akin Gump’s Real Estate practice, and includes Rustam Aliev and Dmitry Maltsev – is expected to have completed its move to Goltsblat BLP by mid-January,  2014. They have recently been involved in a series of  acquisitions in connection with prominent new business centers in Moscow and other Russian cities.

    Vladislav Sourkov said: ”I am very pleased to be joining a firm with such highly-regarded real estate capabilities, recognized globally as one of the leading places to practice real estate. My team and I are looking forward to hitting the ground running and working on the many domestic and international real estate deals that GBLP is involved in.”

    Goltsblat’s Real Estate practice is led by Real Estate and Construction Partner Vitaly Mozharowski, and is part of BLP’s global real estate team,  which has over 360 real estate lawyers worldwide. The announcement of Sourkov’s team’s hire follows on BLP’s announcement last month that Karen Friebe, the former global co-chair of DLA Piper’s hospitality and leisure group, will join the firm from early next year.

  • Ashurst Adds CEE/CIS Capital Markets Partner in London

    Ashurst’s London office announced that Partner Francis Kucera would be joining the firm from Linklaters, where he headed the CEE and CIS desks and, for the past four years, served as co-managing partner of the firm’s Warsaw office.

    Kucera focuses on international securities work, on both the debt and equity sides, with a particular emphasis on emerging market financings in CEE and CIS, and acting for both issuers and banks.
