Did You Know that the ten firms that have worked on the most client matters reported by CEE Legal Matters through Q3 of 2023 are equally divided between international and regional powerhouses? According to the Activity Rankings function of the CEELMDirect website, Magic Circle-member Clifford Chance, which has worked on a remarkable 66 deals reported by CEE Legal Matters in the first nine months of 2023, leads the pack, but Vienna-based Schoenherr is close behind with 64.

Dentons is in third place with 58 completed CEELM-reported client matters, and Baltic champion Cobalt is in fourth with 55. CMS, which worked on 50 client matters reported by this publication through September of this year, rounds out the top five. 

Vienna-based Wolf Theiss, which worked on 44 CEELM-reported client matters through Q3 of 2023, is in sixth place, with Sorainen (with 37), Kinstellar (with 32), White & Case (with 30), and Allen & Overy (with 28) rounding out the top ten. 

Poland’s Gessel, which has worked on 20 CEELM-reported deals in the first nine months of 2023, is the first purely domestic law firm to appear in the rankings, at 17th.

Did you know that 10 of the 18 law firms in Romania that have reported four or more client matters so far in 2023 are independent law firms, unaffiliated with international or regional law firms? According to the Activity Rankings function of the CEELMDirect website, that group of domestic Romanian law firms is led by Filip & Company and RTPR, both of which have reported working on 12 client matters so far in 2023.

Stratulat Albulescu is close behind with 10, and Popovici Nitu Stoica & Asociatii (with eight) and Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (with seven) round out the top five. Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii and Vlasceanu & Partners have both worked on six reported deals so far this year, while Musat & Asociatii, Nyerges & Partners, and BPV Grigorescu Stefanica have all worked on four.

The overall leader-board in Romania is led by Schoenherr, which has worked on an impressive 14 reported client matters so far in 2023.

Did You Know that 12 firms in Central and Eastern Europe worked on more than 16 client matters reported by CEE Legal Matters in the first half of the year? According to the Activity Rankings function of the CEELMDirect website, two firms worked on more than 40 client matters reported by CEE Legal Matters in the first six months of 2023: Schoenherr, which worked on 42, and Clifford Chance, which worked on 41.

Dentons worked on 37 client matters reported by CEELM through June 31, 2023, putting the firm in third place, with Cobalt (at 36) and Sorainen (at 35) close behind. The list of firms that worked on 30 or more reported deals also includes Wolf Theiss (with 31) and CMS (with 30).

Kinstellar and Ellex both worked on 20 client matters reported in the first half of this year, while Linklaters worked on 18 and White & Case and Allen Overy Shearman Sterling both worked on 17.

Nine lawyers – Mark Krenn, Jiri Hornik, Madalina Neagu, Tomas Dolezil, Marcin Studniarek, Edgars Lodzins, Toivo Viilup, Izabela Zielinska-Barlozek, and Roxana Ionescu – worked on five reported client matters in the first six months of 2023.

Did You Know that a total of 11 law firms have worked on four or more reported Energy/Natural Resources deals in CEE so far this year? According to the Activity Rankings function of the CEELMDirect website, the leaderboard is led by Norton Rose Fulbright, which has worked on ten Energy/Natural Resources deals reported since January 1, 2023.
