  • CHSH Makes Of Counsel in Austria

    CHSH has promoted Commercial lawyer Nicolas Raschauer to Of Counsel in Vienna.

    Raschauer is Professor of Public Law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, where he heads the Department for Public Corporate Law, is Deputy Head of the Institute for Constitutional Law and Political Science, and lectures in the Institute for Environmental Law.

    In a statement released by the firm and attributed to both, CHSH Partners Hans Kristoferitsch and Peter Knobl commented on the significance of the move: “At a time when the level of regulation is increasing rapidly and the number of checks carried out by the regulatory authorities is likewise on the rise, we feel fortunate to have secured such a recognized expert for our law firm.” 

  • CMS Sits Across from Schoenherr on Polypore – Seven Mile Capital Deal

    Austrian CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz advised Polypore on the deal initially reported by CEE Legal Matters on January 1, 2014.

    CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz advised Polypore on the company’s USD 120 million sale of the company’s Microporous Business Unit to the New York-based Seven Mile Capital Partners private equity firm.

    CMS Reich-Rohrwig Partner Johannes Trenkwalder played a critical role in the deal, along with Partner Sibylle Novak, Attorney Clemens Grossmayer, and Associate Kai Ruckelshausen. 

  • Schoenherr Advises On Acquisition of Microporous’s Austrian and US Operations

    European law firm Schoenherr, along with lead counsel Wilkie Farr Gallagher in the United States, advised the New York-based private equity firm Seven Mile Capital Partners II on its USD 120 million acquisition of the Austrian and US operations of Microporous, a leading producer of lead-acid battery separators, from Polypore International.

    As part of the transaction, Seven Mile Capital acquired the Microporous lead-acid battery separator facilities in Tennessee, in the United States, and Feistritz im Rosental, in Austria. The transaction successfully closed on December 19, 2013.

    Schoenherr covered all Austria-related aspects of the transaction, including due diligence, contract documentation, acquisition financing, and tax. The Schoenherr team was led by Partner Christian Herbst and included Partners Michaela Petritz-Klar, Sascha Hodl, and Roman Perner, along with Senior Associate Maximilian Lang.
